This website comes to you from my desire to share my faith with others. All of the subjects covered have come from what I have learnt as I have been reading God’s Word or from some very fabulous reading I have done of various Christian authors.
In early 2009, even though I had been a Christian for many years, I realized that I had never read through the entire Bible, and I felt God prompting me to undertake this enormous task. I was dissatisfied with where I was not at with God and had stopped, once again, attending church.
Each one of us, no matter how wonderful a Christian upbringing we have had, must receive our own personal conviction from God to be able to own our own salvation. I was raised in mainstream church, but over the years I have come to a deeper understanding of who God is and who His Son Jesus is to me in my life. I have always believed and know without a doubt that God the Father is the One True God and that the only way to Him is through His Son Jesus Christ.
So to be able to succeed at reading the sixty-six books that make up the Bible (because I wanted to do it in one year) I had to work out my own schedule (because if I was going to spend all that time doing my own roster then I was definitely going to stick to it) and not rely on somebody else’s chart. So I did just that, and worked out how many chapters I needed to read per week day, and started. I got about half way through 2009 and stumbled.
But I was not going to give up and finally, in early 2010, I resumed my reading, and by September had succeeded in completing the entire bible. It took longer in time to do, but only a little over 12 months reading time, so I was happy. And quite amazed that I had succeed at such a feat.
During the course of my journey, I took many notes and I have discovered many things about God. Plus, since that time, I have re-read through the Bible three or four more times. Each time, I see something I didn’t before. I want to share some of them here with you.
As far as my art goes, I started painting about 1998 on bits of cardboard, and since late 2003 I have been amazingly inspired to do some serious painting, but it wasn’t until 2006 that I plucked up the courage to purchase a canvas and seriously paint. In that same year I was walking with a friend around the Lake, and recalled how much as a child I had loved collecting autumn leaves and making collages with them. And so, we began collecting leaves, and I ended up with a huge collection sitting in a box out in my backyard, and I thought, NOW WHAT?
Over time a picture began to form in my mind, so I went looking for the perfect sized canvas, but couldn’t find one, so ended up with four nailed together and the finished product looked quite interesting. This was my first serious piece, Autumn ’06, and in August 2008 it was sold and I hope is as much joy to the new owner as it was to me while I had it hanging on my wall, because, Autumn is my favourite time of year, as you can see from my paintings !
After doing several more paintings, someone suggested I hang them locally and although that scared me silly, I plucked up the courage to do so. I sold two and got some very positive feedback and began to take myself a lot more seriously. In August 2008 I exhibited my art locally for the month, and sold five pieces. Since then, I have shown my art at several venues around Sale and Golden Beach. I now have quite a few pieces of original work, which are for sale.
You will see in my work apart from acrylic paint, also pastel, crayon, glitter, glue, fabric, card, paper, felt, sequins, ink, any bits and pieces that take my fancy, and maybe even sand!
God is an ever present influence and help in my life. My art and my faith in God are interwoven because it is His wonderfully beautiful creation that I paint. The paintings I have done are all an expression of who He is. Of his amazingly glorious creativity, of His wonderful love for mankind, and of the sacrifice He made for you and me. It is from Him that my talents come and the reason for the Inspirational Calendar that I produce each year. My way of expressing my faith, and my walk with God. Without Him this website would not exist, and most certainly my art would not exist either!
