Open Doors

Very briefly, and to the point . . . There are Christians around the world who are persecuted for their faith. For believing in Jesus. They are ridiculed, taunted, beaten, kicked out of their homes, thrown into prison (nothing like ours) . . . are tortured, have their homes destroyed, and their churches and some even die for their faith.

We are so lucky to live in the Nation we live in where we are free to worship without any fear of retribution. North Korea is the worst according to the official World Watch List which is constantly being reviewed and each year Open Doors posts a new one of the 50 most persecuted nations with prayer points for us to follow. It is horrendous and when you see the world map on their website you will be shocked to see what a huge chunk of the world treats their citizens so disgracefully.

Please have a look at this situation and even consider giving a regular amount to help pay for bibles being taken into theseĀ  countries (by very brave people, I may add) to these believers who continue to witness despite the danger. There is a link to the Open Doors website at the end of this article.

The following is from an article in Open Doors’ Front Line Faith issue 02/2018 ~ by “Wybo Nicolai” ~ creator of the World Watch List. I have written it mostly in my own words, and with some of my thoughts thrown into the mix.

“The Western Church has never had more to learn from our persecuted brothers and sisters on how to be bold, unashamed of the Gospel, and quick to forgive. Persecution is growing both in intensity and in the number of countries and believers affected. Jesus warned us, that just as they persecuted Him, we shall be persecuted.”

And why is this? Well, because the enemy, the devil, is prowling around looking for those he can instil with his hatred of the name of Jesus. And if he can find the hoards he needs, then just as Jesus, we are his target.
Acceptance of this persecution is the first step, at the same time we need to realize that we are not alone, because we belong to the Body of Christ. And as part of this body, we have all the prayers, support and love that we need. And of course, God’s grace, for He tells us that ~

“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

We should make good use therefore of our time here as Australians, where we have the freedom.

“We should speak out on what is most important in our Christian faith. In fact we need to Wake Up! Live out our faith, through prayer, and reading regularly God’s Word. We need to share our faith or be an encouragement to other believers.”
“Research has shown that the Western world is moving from a Christian culture to neutral, and trends suggest that the next chapter is an anti-Christian culture.”
“The Western Church has never needed the persecuted Church more ~ And the persecuted have never needed the Western Church more.”
